New Porsche 911 GT2 RS Sets New All-Time Record With A 6:47.3 On The Nürburgring Proving Grounds

It has been quite some time since the Porsche has claimed this prestigious lap record. According to Porsche they have just set a new record on the 13 mile Nordschleife track with their latest 911 GT2 RS. This wasn’t a one-time lucky strike either, apparently the Porsche test drivers, Lars Kern and Nick Tandy, surpassed the previous record set by the Huracan Performante in the first run, before smashing five laps under 6 minutes 50 seconds.

Porsche VP of Motorsport and GT Cars, states; “At the start of the development process, we set ourselves a lap time target for the 911 GT2 RS of less than 7 minutes and 5 seconds. The credit for beating this target by 17.7 seconds goes to our development engineers, mechanics and drivers, who demonstrated an exceptionally strong team performance. This result makes it official: The GT2 RS is not only the most powerful, but also the fastest 911 ever built”. The latest 911 GT2 RS boasts an absurd 690 horsepower coming from its 3.8-liter twin-turbo flat-six.
