Tesla Roadster Blows Minds One At A Time
With a 0-60 of 1.9 seconds, top speed in excess of 250 mph and a range of 620 miles; toque figures? over 7,000 lb-ft. The Tesla Roadster is simply not from this planet. During the reveal of the Tesla Semi, Tesla took the time to also show off their second generation Tesla Roadster. Elon Musk mentioned some time ago that the next generation of roadsters would be revealed soon enough, but the fact that the reveal came as a surprise was much sweeter. The Tesla Roadster is a 2+2, with a removable roof and two doors, a pure roadster. The Tesla Roadster beats the Bugatti Chiron to 60 mph and inches up its bumper in the top speed run. Elon Musk went on to say that the Tesla Roadster would be the fastest production car.
We hate to break it to you Dodge, but those Demons and HellCats are still going to be getting mopped up at the 1/4 against the Roadsters, as if the P100D wasn’t enough. With help from the 200kWh battery pack, it will annihilate the drag strip in a mere 8.8 seconds. Instead of “Ludicrous” mode, the Tesla Roadster will have a “Plaid” mode, which is the only mode after “Ludicrous” mode in the Space Balls movie that Musk references for his acceleration mode easter eggs. Tesla CEO goes on to state that the performance numbers are very real.
The Tesla Roadster boast three electric motors; one in the front, and two in the rear. Combined they turn out a whopping 10, 000 nm of torque, which translates to approximately 7, 375 lb-ft of torque. For the performance figures, the price is not bad either. Coming in at $200,000 with a $50,000 deposit required to secure the reservation. This price gives a serious blow to its competition the Aventador S and McLaren 720S, both of which get left in the dust behind the Tesla Roadster on the strip. Tesla also notes a special Founders Edition, limited to just 1,000 unites will be available for $250,000. Unfortunately we won’t see first units hit the road until 2020, as long as they deliver in a reasonable amount of time, the new flagship model will keep this Tesla buzz going.
