Porsche Unveils New Generation 911 GT2 RS – Limited To 1,000 All Of Which Have Been Sold Out

We reminisce of the old 997 GT2 RS from yester-year, and drool over what once was. Good news for all of you! Porsche is finally bringing back what can be considered, hands down, one of the best iterations of the 911 of all time. Their chosen route for revealing this GT2 RS is quite unusual for an automaker of Porsche’s pedigree. Rather than going the usual route of unveiling at Frankfurt, or Geneva Porsche decided to do so at this years E3 Los Angeles gaming convention. Despite only being revealed two weeks ago, all 1,000 units of the GT2 RS have been reportedly sold out. Truly amazing how quick that ended up happening; at least it still lives on in our dreams.

The German news site AutoBild states that, only 1,000 units are planned for production, so we can very much expect it to become a much sought after collectible for years to come. The new GT2 RS pricing will start at 262,000 Euros, which comes in approximately $290,000 at the time of this publication. The first few examples have been allotted specifically for the 918 owners. Porsche, however, has yet to officially confirm any pricing or availability, specifications or official photos. We can expect it to rely on a 3.8L twin-turbo flat-six, with water injection. A recent road test reported that the new GT2 RS comes packed with a staggering 700 horsepower and can sprint from 0-62 in a mere 2.9 seconds. All before reaching a topped of 212 mph.

Considering the ignorant levels of power, the new GT2 RS looks absolutely stunning with the new wide body aerokit, massive rear wing, and a curb weight of just about 3,306 lbs. If you aren’t in the drawing for one of the 1,000 units, you can get behind the wheel of one on the new Forza Motorsport 7 when it drops on October 3rd for Xbox One.
